With his announcement, Akshay Kumar also put an end to the ongoing speculation regarding OMG2’s possible postponement due to the moviemaker’s tussle with the censor board over its LGBTQA content, offensive dialogues, vulgar scenes, and other objectionable religious references.

Akshay Kumar Vs Sunny Doel

Akshay’s recent announcement not only confirmed 11 August as OMG 2’s official arrival date but also made its clash with Sunny Deol’s mega movie Gadar 2 inevitable.

Gadar 2

Gadar 2 is the second instalment of the timeless classic Gadar: Ek Prem Katha which was released on Big screens back in 2001.

The action-drama, which is set in the backdrop of 1971’s Indo-Pakistani war, is helmed by Anil Sharma and features the iconic duo of Sunny Deol and Amisha Patel as the lead characters. Besides Sunny and Amisha, the movie will also have Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur and Manish Wadhwa in significant roles.

Gadar has already generated massive buzz amongst the public with its super-hit promos, melodious songs and intriguing teaser. Its trailer, which was recently dropped by its makers has also received positive feedback from fans and critiques and garnered over 3.4 million views in less than a week from its release.

OMG 2

OMG 2 is an upcoming sequel to Akshay Kumar’s 2012 super hit Oh My God and is helmed by Amit Rai. In its star-studded cast, the movie features Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi in the leading roles with Yami Gautam, Govind Namdev and Arun Govil playing as the supporting characters.

Its story centres around the life of a Shiva devotee Kanti Sharan Mudgal who resides in the holy city of Ujjain. The remaining story of the movie showcases how god (Lord Shiva) himself incarnates in human form to aid of his troubled devotee and guide him to overcome all the difficulties and challenges with the power of self-belief, devotion and faith.

With equal Star power, buzz, and nostalgia on both sides, it will be interesting to see how both movies will perform at the box office and which of the two will emerge as a winner.
