New Delhi: In July, Aditya Chopra is expanding the YRF Spy Universe by signing Alia Bhatt for a big-budget action film. This movie will be Yash Raj Films’ first spy movie led by a female protagonist and the eighth installment in their popular Spy Universe franchise. Previous films in the franchise include Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, War 2, and Tiger vs. Pathaan. Alia Bhatt will be joined by Sharvari from Bunty Aur Babli 2 in this untitled action-packed film, which is set to begin shooting in the first half of 2024.
Alia Bhatt and Sharvari are set to become YRF’s first female spies, joining the ranks of popular male superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Hrithik Roshan in India’s most successful movie universe. The upcoming film promises thrilling action, and to prepare for their roles, both Alia and Sharvari will undergo an Intense three-month training program, including mixed martial arts. The movie will be made on a grand scale and demands the actresses to be in top physical form for the challenging action sequences they will tackle together. Once they finish their current commitments, they will begin their preparation for the film.
The shooting for the action film starring Alia and Sharvari will begin around May 2024 in Mumbai, and will also take place in various international locations. Currently, the film is in the development stage and will enter pre-production by the end of this year. Before fully focusing on the YRF production, Alia is expected to complete her role in Vasan Bala’s prisonbreak film with Dharma Productions and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra. She will start shooting for Bala’s thriller next month in Mumbai, and Bhansali’s musical alongside Ranveer Singh is scheduled to begin early next year. As for Sharvari, she is currently filming with John Abraham for Nikkhil Advani’s Vedaa.
The next Installments in the YRF Spy Universe include “Tiger 3” starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, set to release this Diwali. “War 2” with Hrithik Roshan and Kiara Advani will start filming in November. Additionally, “Tiger vs. Pathaan” featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan is planned to begin production early next year.
