Delhi: Police arrests Bhojpuri actor in fake currency racket

Nehru Place, Lajpat Nagar and New Friends Colony are the three places where they used to target the people

New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested a Bhojpuri film actor in connection to a fake currency racket. The actor, Md Shahid runs a production studio in Hari Nagar Ashram. The accused was held with his accomplice Sayyad Zain Hussain who is allegedly part of a vehicle theft racket.

The duo was arrested during random checking to decrease the car theft cases in South East Delhi, said the police. Md Shahid and Zain Hussain were intercepted near New Friends Colony on 13th March. During the search, police found 200 wads of fake currency notes in a bag they were carrying. The scooty they were travelling on was also found to be stolen. Fake currency found in their possession amounted to 50 lakhs.

During the investigation police uncovered that Md Shahid runs a film studio in the name of Sahil Sanny Film Production in Hari Nagar Ashram, Delhi. He makes portfolios along with editing films in the studio. Shahid has worked in a Bhojpuri film called ‘Allahabad to Islamabad’. Apart from this he has been a part of some Bhojpuri songs which are available on YouTube.

DCP South-East Delhi, RP Meena gave a statement describing how the racked started,“During his business, he came in contact with a con and started to lure people through fake notes. He used to give people three fake notes for one genuine note, telling them they may be used in the market freely like genuine ones. Meanwhile, during the lockdown he suffered a huge financial loss and came in contact with auto lifter Sayyad Zain Hussain of Jamia Nagar and started stealing two- wheelers.”

Nehru Place, Lajpat Nagar and New Friends Colony are the three places where they used to target the people. Md Shahid is a resident of Batla House in Jamia Nagar, Delhi and was previously involved in eight cases which involve snatching, cheating and one of the Arms Act.

Sayyad Zain Hussain is from Jogabai Extension, Okhla, Jamia Nagar in Delhi and used to work as a taxi driver.
