Dementia or no dementia: Ranbir & Uncle Randhir have different versions on latter’s state

Rishi Kapoor died before he could complete filming on Sharmaji Namkeen. After Paresh Rawal stepped in as his substitute for the role, the film could be completed.

New Delhi: Actor Ranbir Kapoor publicly mentioned that his uncle Randhir Kapoor suffers from dementia, a mental condition in which a person tends to forget things.

In conversation with a TV channel, the actor revealed that his uncle was in early stages of dementia as wanted to speak to brother Rishi Kapoor after watching his late brother’s last film Sharmaji Namkeen.

“My uncle Randhir Kapoor, who is going through an early stage of dementia, came to me after the film and said, ‘Tell dad that he is amazing, and where is he, let’s call him’. Ranbir told NDTV.

When Randhir Kapoor was about his nephew’s statement, he said, “Ranbir ki marzi (Ranbir’s wish), he is entitled to say what he wants. I never said that. I am alright. In fact, I have just returned from Goa with Rahul Rawail. ”

Randhir Kapoor is the eldest son of celebrated & legendary director Raj Kapoor. Ranbir Kapoor is the son of Randhir’s younger brother Rishi Kapoor, who died in 2020 after a two-year battle with cancer.

Sharmaji Namkeen is the story of a recently retired man, who discovers his passion for cooking. Along with late Rishi ji, other actors starring in the film include Paresh Rawal, Juhi Chawla, Suhail Nayyar, Taaruk Raina, Satish Kaushik, Sheeba Chaddha and Isha Talwar.
