Gadar 2 vs OMG 2 vs Jailer: Tara, Akki & Thalaiva to breach Rs 75 crores in one day? Unravelling biggest BO war of 2023

As Thaliva’s fever remains limited to southern states, Gadar 2 and OMG 2 will continue to dominate the Hindi belt’s market while Rajnikant’s Jailor stays focused on conquering the South.

New Delhi: The day is the 11th of August and Tara Singh along with his lovelady Sakina are back on the big screens after  22 years to face Akshay Kumar and one and only Thaliva at the box office.

Backed by the enormous success and nostalgia associated with its timeless prequel Gadar Ek Prem Katha, Anil Sharma’s directorial arrived with rave reviews, houseful theatres and massive buzz all around the country.

Gadar 2 collection prediction and morning occupancy

The movie’s morning shows saw a decent 36.70 % of occupancy and although it is too early to say anything about its collection, experts are predicting that Sunny Deol’s much-awaited sequel can mint anything between 27-30 crore on the opening day.

Considering the positive word of mouth Gadar 2 has received from the public so far, it is also expected that the Ameesha Patel starrer might make it into the 100-crore club by the end of its first weekend.

However, despite having a solid opening day, Gadar 2s clash with Akshay’s OMG definitely affected its show’s occupancy as well as box office figures and had Gadar faced no competition, the movie could have effortlessly had a gigantic 40 crore opening day.

Nevertheless, with 3 heavyweight movies simultaneously running in the cinemas, a film fest has been triggered across the nation and fans are now waiting with bated breath to witness a humongous box office Friday for the Indian cinema.

Box office to witness 75 a crore Friday?

As per film business expert Girish Johar, the combined collection of Gadar 3, OMG 2 and Jailer can even give the indian box office a 75 crore Friday.

Tweeting about the same Girish said, “Both Gadar2 & Jailer have set the Indian BoxOffice on fire & gives vibes of pre-pandemic days at the cinemas. Offices & colleges remain officially shut, in the south, allowing them to watch their #SuperstarRajinikanth on BIG SCREEN. #SunnyDeol ROAR is enough for fans to throng cinemas. That’s the power of REAL SUPERSTARS. This has been missing now, and badly needs a COMEBACK with today’s intelligent & smart storytelling”

30 crore for Gadar 2

Following the massive ticket sale made by Gadar 2 in advance bookings, everyone was expecting the Sunny Doel starrer to set the box office on fire and now, it seems like fans’ expectations are going to come true as the movie has already proved its might in the morning shows itself. If film exhibitor Akshay Rathi is to be believed, Gadar for sure is going to open with at least 30 crores on its first day.

However, as Anil Sharma’s Magnum Opus has been released on a working day, its morning and afternoon show’s occupancy is expected to stay under 40 %  and will begin to rise by the time night approaches.

Gadar 2’s entry into the 100 crore club

Considering the movie’s massive advance booking, morning occupancy and day 1 collection estimates by the experts, it is very much possible for Tara Singh and Sakeensa’s timeless love story to march into the 100-crore club by the end of its extended weekend.

Where does OMG stand?

While many believed that the Akshay Kumar starrer will fall victim to Gadar’s nostalgia and Thaliva’s stardom, OMG 2 has started its box-office journey with a decent 18 per cent morning Occupancy. Keeping all that in mind it is expected that Akshay Kumar’s much-awaited sequel can kick start its box office journey with Rs 10-11 crores.

Despite the cuts and objections raised by censors bored prior to its release, the Pankaj Tripathi starrer has emerged as a dark horse and impressed the critiques as well as the netizens who are lauding Akshay and team for showing such bold and brave content in the movie about which no one dares to speak openly.

Saturday will now come as a crucial day for OMG2 as the positive word of mouth it has received today will compel more fans to walk towards the theatres and the same will affect its box office performance in an extremely positive way.

Moreover, As OMG 2 have an entirely different audience than Gadar 2, the same is likely to work in the favour of the satirical comedy which might as well end Akshay Kumar’s Box office struggle and revive him in the industry as a superstar once again.

Sunny and Akshay to dodge Thaliva’s threat?

Speaking of Rajnikanth’s actioner Jailor, the movie has already wreaked mayhem at the box office by minting 52 crores on its Day 1 and becoming the highest Tamil grosser of the year.

However, As Thalaiva’s fever remains limited to southern states, Gadar 2 and OMG 2 will continue to dominate the Hindi belt’s markets while Rajnikant’s Jailor stays focused on conquering the South.
