New Delhi: Kapil Sharma the king of comedy was born in 1981 on April 2nd and today he turns 40. He started his career in the small city of Amritsar, Punjab, and made it to the city of dreams Mumbai by coming a long way. By starting as a contestant in a reality show he now rules the small screen with his standup comedy.

On his birthday, let’s have a look on some interesting facts about the king of comedy.
-Kapil’s real name is Kapil Punj and just because he thought that the surname ‘Sharma’ suits his personality more, he changed it.
-He lost his father at a very young age that is in 2004 due to cancer in 1997. Jeetendra Kumar Punj, his father was a Head Constable in Punjab Police.
-In the show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge he was rejected while in the audition round which was in Amritsar, but later he was selected in the auditions in Delhi and luckily won the show.
-The prize money that he won in the show was 10 lakh and he spent all the money on his sister’s marriage.
-In many interviews, Kapil himself claimed that his passion is singing and his basic motive while shifting to Mumbai was to become a singer, his voice has already seen when he sometimes sings in his current show.

-He won the show Comedy Circus that aired on Sony six times.
-Various shows like Jhalak Dikhla Jaa Season 6, Chhote Miyanand Ustaadon Ka Ustaad were hosted by him only.
-Comedy Nights with Kapil was launched by Kapil only in the year 2013 and is under his banner that is K9 Productions that air on Colors Channel.
-His Bollywood debut was made in 2015 in the movie Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, directed by Abbas Mustan. Where he worked with four actresses –Eli Avram, Manjari Phadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi and Sai Lokur.
In 2018, he got married to his long-time girlfriend Ginni Chatrath.
