Joker 2 rumoured to be musical, featuring Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn: Report

New Delhi: A sequel for DC’s ‘Joker’ has been announced. A picture of the script of the sequel titled ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ was shared by the writer-director, Todd Phillips on Tuesday.

The story continues following Arthur Fleck aka Joker played by Joaquin Phoenix. Phoenix won the Oscars as the Best Actor in the Leading Role for Joker. The sequel, however, is said to feature Harley Quinn as well.

In comic books, Harley Quinn meets Joker as a psychologist in an asylum and falls for him.  The character has been portrayed by several actors in the past including, Gillian Jacobs, Mia Sara and Kaley Cuoco. Recently Margot Robbie was seen playing the character in Birds of Prey and Suicide Squad.

However, for the sequel of Joker, there have been talks about Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn.

Moreover, there are rumours that the upcoming sequel will be a musical and Lady Gaga would be cast opposite Joaquin Phoenix. The movie, just like its prequel, would be in a different DC Universe, without affecting the narrative of films like Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey.

Twitter saw a range of reactions by the DC fans with Joker 2 trending on top in the entertainment section of Twitter. It was definitely shocking for fans to know that Joker’s sequel might be musical.

Meanwhile, some fans are appreciating the fact that superhero films are being tried with a new genre and are excited about it. Matt Ramos also tweeted showing his excitement for the project.
