
New Delhi: The Andheri court on Thursday granted bail to actor Kangana Ranaut in the defamation case against her by lyricist Javed Akhtar. A surety of ₹15,000 and a cash surety of ₹20,000 is assured by granting bail upon furnishing.
Earlier, Metropolitan Magistrate Court, Andheri issued a bailable warrant against her.
In November 2020, Javed Akhtar filed a complaint against Kangana Ranaut over her statements made in an interview aired by Republic TV with Arnab Goswami.

In his complaint before the Andheri metropolitan magistrate, Akhtar alleged thatKangana Ranaut dragged his name in TV interviews after the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. The complaint also said that Kangana had falsely claimed that the noted Bollywood writer threatened her to keep silent about her alleged relationship with actor Hrithik Roshan.
