New Delhi: Since the trailer launch of Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha at the IPL finals on May 29, the film has been drawing a lot of unpleasant reactions from the netizens.
Laal Singh Chaddha, a remake of Tom Hanks’ Forrest Gump, is being trolled for various reasons. There is an ongoing debate on the internet regarding Aamir Khan copying Tom Hanks in his performance.
Some people also pointed out a repeated resemblance between Khan’s performances in Laal Singh Chaddha, PK and Dhoom 3.
While the debate regarding Aamir Khan’s performance isn’t over yet, netizens have ignited a new issue for debate. People have called out the casting team of Laal Singh Chaddha for opting Mona Singh as Aamir Khan’s mother, who is 16 years younger than Khan.
41-years-old Mona Singh, known for playing Jassi in ‘Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahi’ is playing the character of 57 years old Aamir’s mother. Questions have also been raised on women’s treatment in the Bollywood industry.
People on Reddit and Twitter asked why not cast an age-appropriate actor for the role. On the other hand, people defended it by stating the example of ‘Mother India’. Nargis Dutt while being younger, played Sunil Sutt’s mother in the film.
Nargis Dutt and Sunil Dutt had an age difference of an year, she played his mom in Mother India. What’s wrong with that. What’s wrong with Mona Singh playing Aamir’s mom in #LaalSinghChaddha ?
I feel actors play characters; their job is to give life to a story. Enjoy the film.— Dipti Malhotra (@Filmyetc) May 30, 2022

The controversies around Laal Singh Chaddha are not new. Last year, a man took on Twitter to accuse Aamir Khan and his team of littering Wakha, a village in Ladakh. He had also shared the video which shows the littered place where the shooting of the film was going on.

Besides Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir recently got trolled on Twitter. A video of the actor sitting inside his car when his staff approaches him to hand over a smoking pipe and a lighter worth Rs. 10, got viral. People trolled Khan for smoking, while some were fascinated to see him using a cheap lighter.
