New Delhi: Akshay Kumar’s highly anticipated upcoming movie OMG2 has been lately struggling with the censor board over a number of issues.
The Amit Rai directorial, which is the sequel to Umesh Shukla’s super hit satirical comedy OMG, reportedly centres around sex education in the country and the same has been compelling the censor board to take some extra precautions regarding its release.
Censor Boars scissor 20 scenes from OMG2
As per some credible reports, more than 19 0bjectionable scenes from the movie have been cut out by the Board’s Revising Committee. The bold decision was taken by the Revising Committee after the movie was referred to tt by the examining committee.
The same reports further revealed that the taken-down scenes from the film showcased some LGBTQ angles in the story that included both visual and audio depictions.
Other than suggesting around 20 cuts in the movie, the overly conscious censor Board, which was recently blasted by the public for approving Oppenheimer’s controversial Bhagvad Geeta sex scene, is also considering approving OMG2’s release with an Adult only certification. This, if happens will surely be a huge upset for the movie’s stakeholders and will have an adverse effect on the movie’s overall business.
Censor board upset OMG2’s makers
The makers of the Amil Rai’s directorial are simply unhappy with the Board’s recommended cuts and are hesitating to release the movie without including the removed scenes.
They are also protesting against releasing the movie under Adult certification as they believe that since OMG2 throws light on sensitive topics like sex education which are still considered taboo in Indian society, it is a must-watch for the teenagers of the country and releasing it with Adult certification will simply defeat its whole purpose.
Will OMG2 get delayed?
The deadlock between the Censor board and OMG2’s makers has also caused postponements in the movie’s much-awaited trailer launch and if both parties fail to reach an agreement soon, one can even expect a delay in the movie’s release as well.
OMG2’s New Song Out
Amid the ongoing tussle with the censor board the Akshay Kumar starrer recently dropped its captivating track titled har har mahadev’ in which Akshay has been shown performing lord Shiva’s iconic Tandva dance.
Barring a handful of negative reactions, the divine track has received a positive public response and garnered over 770k views (YouTube) in less the two hours.
The movie is now all set for its release on 11 August where it will face tough competition from Sunny Doel and Ameesha Patel’s upcoming movie Gadar 2.
