OTT Updates: ‘Peaky Blinders’ is all set to return for a final season on Netflix; Check release date and more

New Delhi: Coming up with a New Year’s treat for their fan base, makers of award-winning gangster drama ‘Peaky Blinders’ dropped the highly-awaited trailer of the 6th season for the show on Saturday.

Steven Knight’s Oscar-winner period drama is all set to return for a final season on digital giant Netflix. The BBC has released the first trailer of the gang back in action. The intriguing trailer that last for one minute thirty six-second sees Cillian Murphy back in the game with Tommy Shelby, seeking a narrative for the Birmingham-based show to finally put a rest.

Reviving her role as Gina Gray, Anya Taylor-Joy will also return in the final season with an extended cameo in the show.

Paul Anderson, Tom Hardy, Sophie Rundle, Finn Cole, and Stephen Graham, among others, will also be seen in the final season.

Legendary actor Helen McCrory who portrayed the role of Aunty Polly, died in April this year. It was earlier speculated that the trailer might give a glimpse the fate of her character, but it was not revealed.

Knight, who have created and written the show had previously said for the sixth season, “Peaky is back and with a bang. After the enforced production delay due to the Covid pandemic, we find the family in extreme jeopardy and the stakes have never been higher. We believe this will be the best series of all and are sure that our amazing fans will love it. While the TV series will be coming to an end, the story will continue in another form,” as per Deadline.

Anthony Byrne is returning as the directed after the success of the fifth season, while Nick Goding will be producing. Executive producers are Knight, Jamie Glazebrook, Caryn Mandabach,  David Mason, Cillian Murphy, and Anthony Byrne.

The BAFTA award-winning drama ‘Peaky Blinders’ airs on Netflix. The release date for the final season has not been announced yet but it is expected to stream in the early 2022.
