New Delhi: Call it the pressure of Pakistani trolls or fear of terror elements, Pak actor Ali Zafar is clearly on the backfoot over his eulogy of Indian lyricist-writer Javed Akhtar.
Pak actor had recently taken to social media to express his joy & happiness over ‘performing’ in front of veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar. Today, the actor-singer has hit out at Javed Akhtar over his damning comments on 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
Taking to his Instagram story, Ali Zafar sought to clear the air about his ‘silence’ on Javed’s stinging criticism of Pakistan and said that he was not present at the Faiz festival where the veteran writer spoke about terrorists ‘roaming freely’ in Pakistan.
The actor wrote, “Guys, I truly value your praise and criticism equally. But I always request one thing – verify facts before reaching any conclusion or judgement. I was not present at the Faiz Mela nor aware of what was said until the next day when I saw it on social media.”
He further said that he was a proud Pakistani and like others he wouldn’t take anyone offend his country or countrymen, especially when an event was held to bring hearts together than add to the hostility.
He also called Akhtar’s comments as ‘insensitive and uncalled for’ and said that latter’s remarks have hurt the sentiments of so many people.”
Ali Zafar was at the receiving end of fellow Pakistani & trolls after Javed Akhtar’s criticism of Pakistan over ‘shielding’ terrorists created a flutter in the country.
