This Pongal, 6 movies & web series to watch in Theatres & OTT platforms

The list of six movies from the south film industry such as Bangarraaju, Hero, Theal, and Thuramukham to watch during Makar Sankranthi.

New Dehli: Ahead of the Makar Sankranti, known as Pongal in South India, big-budget movies such as ‘RRR’, ‘Radhe Shyam’, and ‘Prithviraj’ have been postponed by the makers due to weekend curfews in several states. However, there is no dearth of entertainment because a long list of movies is already here to release in theatres and on the Over the Top (OTT).

The list provided below includes movies from Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam cinema. You can decide as per your interest to watch while celebrating Makar Sankranthi.

1) Bangarraaju

‘Bangarraaju’ is based on supernatural drama, starring Megastar Nagarjuna Akkienni and his son Chaitanaya Akkineni. It is said to be a sequel to ‘Soggade Chinni Nayana’. It will release in theatres on January 14.

2) Hero

In ‘Hero’, Mahesh Babu’s nephew Asok Dalla is making his debut with Nidhhi Agrewal. Agrewal announced on Twitter that the film will release on January 15 in theatres. Dalla is playing the role of an aspiring actor.

3) The American Dream

‘The American Dream’ stars Prince Cecil who became famous after coming in Bigg Boss Telugu season 1.  He will be seen against Neha Krishna in the lead role on OTT Aha. The Tollywood film depicts the lives of Indians who are living in America.

4) Theal

‘Theal’ is a famous film as it stars Prabhu Deva in the lead role. The Kollywood action thriller will be released in theatres on Jan 14.  It is directed by Harikumar and produced by Green production house.

5) Meppadiyan

‘Meppadiyan’ is reportedly based on real-life events. Mollywood film stars Unni Mukundan,  Aju Varghese, Anu Kurian in important roles. It is scheduled to release on Jan 14.

6) Thuramukham

Malayalam star Nivin Pauly and Indrajith Sukumaran’s film ‘Thuramukham’ will hit the theatres on January 20. It is based on the struggles of Kerala’s 1940’s Kochi labours.
