SRK, Deepika Padukone’s ‘Pathaan’ to be first Indian film to release in ICE format: Reports

The Vice-president of distribution at Yash Raj Films, Rohan Malhotra, talked about the format and said that this format is being liked by the audience across the world.

New Delhi: Amid all the controversies and boycott calls, Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Pathaan’ is set to be the first film to release in Immersive Cinema Experience (ICE) format in India. Before this, ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ became the first film to release in ICE format in India with two operational PVR Cinemas in Delhi NCR.

The Vice-president of distribution at Yash Raj Films, Rohan Malhotra, talked about the format and said that this format is being liked by the audience across the world. He added that adapting new technology is in ‘YRF’s DNA’.

An ICE theatre format works with side panels, along with the main screen, to display the film. This creates an enhanced immersion with a contrast of colours and motion, adding the dimension of peripheral vision to the experience.

Shah Rukh was last seen in ‘Brahmastra: Part One-Shiva’ in a cameo role, but ‘Pathaan’ marks SRK’s return after ‘Zero’. In Siddharth Anand’s directorial film, he plays an R&AW agent. The film also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in major roles.

The fans have got to see glimpses of the film in the teaser and the songs ‘Besharam Rang’ and ‘Jhoome Jo Pathaan’. The song ‘Besharam Rang’ faced a backlash from Hindu outfits for the colour of Deepika’s bikini while some said it to be ‘vulgar’. However, a section of the audience is receiving it well and is eagerly waiting to see SRK and Deepika on the big screen.

‘Pathaan’ will hit the cinemas on January 25.
