Veteran singer Narendra Chanchal passes away; PM Modi remembers his ‘vibrant voice’

Renowned for his bhajans, Narendra Chanchal breathed his last today afternoon

New Delhi: Veteran singer Narendra Chanchal passed away at a hospital in Delhi on January 22. He was 80. It is said that he passed away at a private hospital in Delhi following some health complications.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the loss of Chanchal.

On Twitter, Sufi singer Master Saleem and cricketer Harbhajan Singh paid their last respects to Narendra Chanchal and remembered the “iconic” singer.

“Deeply saddened to learn that iconic and most loved #NarendraChanchal ji has left us for the heavenly abode. In prayers for his soul to rest in peace. Heartfelt condolences to his family,” Harbhajan Singh tweeted.

He was born in Namak Mandi, Amritsar in 1940. Narendra Chanchal provided vocals to songs such as Beshak Mandir Masjid (Bobby, 1973), Baki Kuchh Bacha (Roti Kapda Aur Makan, 1974) and Huye Hain Kuchh Aise (Anjaane, 1994).
