New Delhi: While Rahul Gandhi leads Bharat Jodo padyatra to bolster Congress footprints, a controversial post by the party on Monday received strong reaction from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

A Congress post on its official Twitter handle, showed a burning pair of khakhi sorts, in an apparent dig at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and wrote that it wants to free the country from shackles of hate and ‘undo the damage’ done by BJP & RSS.

The burning Khaki shorts was also captioned: “145 days more to go.”

Khakhi shorts is the official uniform of the RSS.

Taking strong exception to Congress, BJP went ballistic and tore into the party for ‘sowing seeds of violence’.

In a press conference, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra termed the yatra as ‘Bharat Todo Yatra’ & ‘Aag Lagao Yatra’.
Lot many BJP leaders took to Twitter and demanded that the Congress pull down the offensive post immediately.

“I want to ask Rahul Gandhi do you want violence in this country? Congress should take down this picture immediately,” Patra said.

“Congress fire burnt Delhi in 1984. It’s ecosystem burnt alive 59 karsevaks in Godhra in 2002.They’ve again given their ecosystem a call for violence,” said BJP MP Tejashwi Surya.

On the other hand, Congress defended the move and said BJP must refrain from ‘polarizing politics & stop inciting people in name of religion.

Congress leader Rashid Alvi slammed the RSS saying, ‘they have no other work than doing Hindu-Muslim.’

“Every word of this tweet is true. They have no other work than doing Hindu-Muslim,” said Rashid Alvi.
Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said, “If they (BJP) want to make an issue about containers, shoes or T-shirts, it shows that they are afraid and can say anything. ‘Jhoot ki factory’ is running overtime on social media.” (sic)
