New Delhi: Amid the raging controversy over Gyanvapi mosque complex, an All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Danish Qureshi has been booked & arrested for making derogatory remarks against the Shivlinga.

The spokesperson of Owaisi’s party wrote an offensive post on social media against the Shivling (represents Lord Shiva) and was subsequently apprehended by the Ahmedabad crime branch. The complaint was lodged by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

The Hindu group said that the disparaging remarks by Owaisi’s party was yet another attempt to malign and mock the Hindu faith and demanded that harsh steps must be taken to rein in these ‘hatemongers’.

Dainsh Qureshi made the disparaging remarks while taking a dig at the Shivling controversy at Varanasi’s Gyanvapi mosque. He also received strong condemnation on social media for posting insulting remarks against the Shivling.

The Gyanvapi mosque & wazukhana has been in the eye of storm over discovery of Shivling from the water reservoir, allegedly used by the Muslim community for ablution. On the plea of Hindu petitioners, the Varanasi court banned wazu at the reservoir and ordered to seal the area where the holy structure was found. However, the Muslim side has raised objection over the issue and demanding to hold its rituals like before. This has escalated the matter and also increased the bad blood between the two communities. The area is currently being manned by heavy presence of police & central forces.

DU professor booked for hateful remarks

An Assistant Professor from Delhi University’s Hindu college has also been booked for sharing objectionable post on the Shivling, found at the Gyanvapi mosque. Professor Ratan Lal allegedly used photo of the religious structure and made objectionable comments on Tuesday.

Within moments, his objectionable post got panned by the users while many gave him a dressing down for hurting religious sentiments. The professor also recorded a video and said that he was threatened by many users online, and also appealed to police for help.
