Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead in broad daylight in Punjab’s Amritsar on Friday.

New Delhi: Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead in broad daylight in Punjab’s Amritsar on Friday. The incident happened on Majeeta Road near Gopal temple when an unidentified man fired at Suri. It is reported that Suri was protesting outside the temple when someone from the crowd murdered him.

The video of the incident is also now going viral on the internet. In the video, one can see the supporters of Suri trying to rush him to the hospital.

Suri protest against temple authorities

Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri reportedly came to the temple to protest outside its premises against the desecrating idols. Suri organised a sit-in protest at the temple after he came to know that some broken idols were thrown in the trash.

Notably, Sudhir made the headlines in July this year when he was arrested on charges of hurting the religious sentiments of a particular community. He was also made accused of using offensive language against a particular community.

The video of the incident also went viral on the internet where he can be heard saying objectionable words against the community.

On the incident, Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga also tweeted and criticised the Bhagwant Mann government over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

”Law and order collapsed in Punjab, Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri injured in firing in Amritsar,” wrote Bagga on Twitter.
