New Delhi: The women of Purvanchal will be getting a special gift in the third phase of Mission Shakti Abhiyan commencing on August 21.

In an endeavor to replicate the success of Balini Milk Producer Company in Bundelkhand, the Yogi government will provide assistance to the women of Gorakhpur, Deoria, Maharajganj and Kushinagar to become self-reliant by setting up dairies and manage milk production. In this regard, the women groups are being formed in the Eastern UP as well as in other districts.

In each village, arrangements have been made for the procurement of milk through computerized system. This effort of the government is to make women self-reliant and give a new path to their overall development.

This will be the first time that along with the districts of Purvanchal, women are going to work in the field of milk production in Rae Bareli, Sultanpur, Amethi, Bareilly, Pilibhit, Kheri, Sitapur and Rampur. For this, the government will form one lakh new self-help groups in five months and will be assisted through ‘Mahila Samarthya Yojana’.

Under the scheme, a transparent system has been made for availability of milk market and collection of milk in different districts of the state. Women will be paid the price of milk regularly and on time directly in their personal bank accounts.

It is worth mentioning that through Ballini Milk Producer Company, more than 24180 women farmers of 634 villages of 05 districts (Jhansi, Jalaun, Hamirpur, Banda and Chitrakoot) of Bundelkhand have been engaged in successful model of financial dependence. The Balini company collects more than 60,000 liters of milk per day an earn their livelihood.

The company is funded by the National Livelihood Mission and the Uttar Pradesh State Rural Livelihoods Mission and was inaugurated by CM Yogi Adityanath in December 2019. Under this scheme, payment is made directly in the account of women farmers.

Self-help groups will be allotted 500 new ration shops

In order to empower women in rural employment, the government is going to allot 500 new ration shops in different districts of the state in the third phase of Mission Shakti.
