New Delhi: Setting a new example of public service, the personnel at Barakhamba road police station came forward with monetary assistance for the marriage of sweeper’s daughter.

The police station staff pooled in Rs 1 lakh and gave it to the woman named Rani for her daughter’s wedding.

Rani, the sole breadwinner of her family, was worried as she didn’t have money for the expenses of her daughter’s wedding. But, she got a pleasant surprise when the Barakhamba road police station personnel pooled in money and handed her Rs 1 lakh cash and many gifts.

Rani was overwhelmed with the noble assistance of police officers.

“My earnings go in paying house rent and meeting daily expenses. I had sought some help from police officers but didn’t expect them to do so much for my daughter’s marriage,” she told media persons.

She also feels grateful and indebted to the police officers for making her daughter’s wedding ceremony joyful.

“With this money, I will buy a gold ring for my daughter and make necessary arrangements for guests. There will be celebration and raunak in marriage now. I am grateful to SHO Prahlad Singh and Delhi police for this,” she said.
