New Delhi: Bengaluru doctor who was getting late for his surgery due to the notorious Bengaluru traffic abandoned his car and decided to reach the hospital by running.

For him it was a matter of life and death for a patient.

It was on August 30, when Dr Govind Nandakumar, a gastroenterology surgeon at Manipal Hospitals, was on his way to perform an emergency laparoscopic gallbladder surgery when he got stuck in the traffic jam on the Sarjapur-Marathalli stretch.

The doctor realised how risky the delay could be for the female patient, Dr Nandakumar decided to leave his car and ran for three kilometres to perform the crucial surgery.

According to the reports, the doctor was able to leave his car behind as he had a driver and without thinking twice he started running towards the hospital.

As Dr Nandakumar reached the hospital, his team was ready to induce anesthesia on the patient, and without any delay the operation was conducted. According to the reports, the surgery was successful, and the patient was discharged on time.

The patient who was operated required the surgery as she was suffering from a gallbladder illness for a long period of time.
