Bharat Biotech’s nasal vaccine for Covid ready for inoculation, here is how much it will cost

As per government of India directive, those who have attained 18 years of age will be eligible to get Bharat Biotech’s iNCOVACC nasal vaccine. It will be used as a heterologous booster dose.

New Delhi: Days after Bharat Biotech’s intranasal vaccine against Coronavirus got the required nod & approval for inoculation, the company has reportedly fixed its price at Rs 800 per dose. And, those getting the nasal vaccine at private hospitals will have to pay 5% Goods & Services Tax (GST) on the prescribed amount.

The inclusion of homegrown nasal vaccine in India’s immunization program will not only help ramping up vaccination drive but will also push panic-stricken people to come forward and get vaccinated against the deadly disease. Many people feared taking vaccine injection, hoping that this will do more harm than good.

A single dose of Bharat Biotech’s nasal vaccine iNCOVACC will cost Rs 800 each. It has given green signal by the government last week and is set to find its place in COVID-19 immunisation programme. According to reports, this will serve as heterologous booster and will be made available in private hospitals first.

Though, efficacy between nasal & injectable vaccines is a debatable issue but the former certainly has the advantage of easy administration, distribution and storage. Nasal vaccines are directly applied to the area from where virus can find its way into the body.
