Bihar Assembly Elections: JP Nadda to address 1st poll rally in Bodhgaya on Oct 11

The public rally will be held in Gandhi Maidan of Bihar’s Bodhgaya and will begin at around 2 pm. This comes days after announcement of election dates by the Election Commission.

New Delhi: Hitting the campaign trail in Bihar, BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda will address party’s first election rally in the state amid the Coronavirus pandemic.

Nadda’s poll rally will however have certain restrictions, as Covid-19 norms makes it mandatory.

The public rally will be held in Gandhi Maidan of Bihar’s Bodhgaya and will begin at around 2 pm. This comes days after announcement of election dates by the Election Commission.

On September 25, Election Commission announced poll dates for 243-seat Bihar assembly in 3 phases– October 28, November 3, and 7. The counting of votes will take place on November 10.

Tarun Chugh, BJP’s national general secretary told mediapersons that the party has taken the brave step to connect with electorate despite Covid-19 fears.

“We are a democracy and it is with pride that I say that our president who is the chief of world’s largest political party would be going amid people to seek their participation in the democracy’s biggest event,” stated Chugh.

Sources said that Nadda would be staying in the state for sometime to motivate the cadre and leaders.

The party is making due arrangements for strictly adhering to Covid-19 norms during the election rally.

“In a ground where lakhs of people participated in rallies, we will only have thousands to attend the rally. However, the address will be heard by crores as it will be broadcast on social media. There would be LED screens for people to watch as we begin our canvassing,” added the BJP leader.

Bihar polls are taking place amid the COVID-19 pandemic that has necessitated physical distancing and ban on large gatherings.

JP Nadda meets Nitish Kumar -

Besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rallies, BJP is also finalising rallies of all senior leaders like Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

As part of the NDA alliance, Nitish Kumar led JD(U) will contest on 122 seats while BJP on 121 seats in the upcoming assembly elections.

JDU has given 7 seats to Jitan Ram Manjhi’s Hindustan Awam Moarch (HAM) from its quota while BJP has allotted 11 seats to Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) from its share.
