New Delhi: The people of Bihar are celebrating Bihar Diwas on Tuesday. The day marks the formation of Bihar. The state was formed after carving out the land from Bengal on March 22, 1912. On this day, from CM Nitish Kumar to the leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav took to Twitter to greet the residents of Bihar.
To commemorate Bihar Diwas, we decided to tell you some natives of the state who helped to make it financially strong.
Anand Kumar
Anand Kumar is famous for running a Super 30 programme in Bihar’s Patna. Under this programme, he teaches students free of cost. However, he comes from a family of limited means. It is reported that 422 students out of 510 students have secured their admission with the help of Kumar by 2018. Based on his life, there is a Bollywood film with the name ‘Super 30’.
Samprada Singh
Samprada Singh was famous for founding Alkem Laboratories in 1973 with his brother Basudeo Narayan Singh. It now does business in Europe, Africa, South America, and the US as well. He also grabbed a position in the Forbes’ richest Indian list several times before dying in 2019.
Sujeet Kumar
Sujeet Kumar is a co-founder of Udaan who is also a native of Bihar. He studied B.Tech from ITT Delhi. Before founding Udaan, Kumar worked for Flipkart. At the e-commerce giant, he worked as the President of Operation from 2007 to 2015. Notably, Udaan is an online business to business platform. It helps manufacturers and wholesalers to sell their products directly to retailers.
Anil Agarwal
Anil Agarwal is also from Bihar’s capital Patna. He is the founder and chairman of Vedanta Resources. At the age of 19, he left for Mumbai to pursue career opportunities. He started his career as a businessman by trading in scrap metal. Vedanta Resources was incorporated in 2003. It reportedly extracts and processes minerals, oil, and gas. Notably, it is also the first Indian film to be listed on London Stock Exchange.
