BJP stages protest outside AAP HQ over Delhi liquor policy, demands Kejriwal’s resignation

The ED had claimed that the arrested accused Vijay Nair had set up a Facetime video call between Kejriwal and the boss of liquor firm who has been arrested in connection with scam.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a major protest outside the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) headquarters on Saturday, over its chief Arvind Kejriwal’s alleged involvement in the liquor policy scam.

The BJP workers waved placards and also shouted slogans, demanding the resignation of Arvind Kejriwal over allegations of corruption & kickbacks charge in the now cancelled liquor policy.

In the video footage captured from AAP headquarters, the BJP workers could be seen jostling to cross the police barricading and also clashing the police at some instances. Some shouted slogans, “Kejriwal chor hai.”

The protests by BJP comes a day after the Enforcement Directorate named Arvind Kejriwal as one of the accused in the supplementary chargesheet filed in Delhi liquor scam. Delhi BJP leaders are demanding Kejriwal’s resignation as Delhi CM, owing to his role in liquor scam as ‘established’ in ED’s findings.

The ED in its chargesheet had said, “Investigation of the trail of this kickback has revealed that part of these were used in election campaign”. The ED also said that a portion of Rs 100 crore ‘kickbacks’ earned from liquor deal was diverted towards funding AAP’s campaign in Goa Assembly elections.”

Kejriwal has strongly denied the charges of Investigative agency and termed the report motivated and a move with malafide intentions. He said that the chargesheet was fake & fictional and it was a move by the Centre to topple non-BJP governments in states.

Kejriwal said, “ED has filed 5,000 chargesheets under this govt. How many have been convicted? All these cases are fake & fictional.”

The ED had claimed that the arrested accused Vijay Nair had set up a Facetime video call between Kejriwal and the boss of liquor firm who has been arrested in connection with scam. On behalf of AAP leaders, Vijay Nair received ₹ 100 crore as advance for licenses in Delhi liquor policy, the agency has alleged.
