BJP MLA writes letter to CM Yogi demanding change Sultanpur’s name to Kushbhavanpur

The demand for changing the name of Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district to Kushbhavanpur has been raised by BJP MLA Vinod Singh.

New Delhi: The demand for changing the name of Uttar Pradesh’s Sultanpur district has been raised by BJP MLA Vinod Singh. Strengthening his demand further, he also wrote a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Earlier, the demand was raised by BJP MLA Devamni Dwivedi in the assembly.

Devamni Dwivedi raise demand in UP assembly

The latest demand of MLA Vinod Singh came after almost 4 years after Devamni Dwivedi raised his voice over the name change of the Sultanpur district in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly in 2018. This was the time when the BJP came to power in the state after many years.

In 2018, the District Municipal Council passed a resolution for the same. Later, the resolution was sent to the state government. At that time, the yogi government did not take any decision.

Demand expected to get stamped

The demand for the name change is being raised for the year. Notably, the BJP government again came to power in the majority in 2022. This time, the demand to change the name of the district is most likely to get stamped. Those who are involved in the campaign are also confident that the state government will take the right decision.

Lord Shri Ram’s son Kush made his capital

In his letter to the UP CM, Vinod Singh wrote, ”Lord Shri Ram’s son Kuch made the district his capital. People named the district after him, Kushbhavanpur. During the Khalji regime, the name was changed to Sultanpur.”

He also added that there are mythological places like Dhopap, Makarikund, and Sitakund in the district.
