Large number of BJP workers participated in the day-long march to express solidarity with the bereaved family of slain soldier Lance Naik Prabhu while BJP State chief K Annamalai announced Rs 10 lakh financial assistance for the family.

New Delhi: The Tamil Nadu unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) organized a day-long hunger strike and candle march on Tuesday, to demand justice for the Army jawan Lance Naik Prabhu, who was brazenly killed in fracas with a DMK councilor & his associates.

Large number of BJP workers participated in the day-long march to express solidarity with the bereaved family of slain soldier Lance Naik Prabhu while BJP State chief K Annamalai announced Rs 10 lakh financial assistance for the family.

BJP’s TN chief launched a blistering attack on the DMK government for the utter lawlessness in the state and demanded that the accused councillor & his goons be arrested immediately. He also slammed the Stalin government for keeping a stunning silence on the whole issue.

Annamalai said that the candle march, being attended by large number of locals showed that they were disappointed with DMK’s mis-governance and the ‘sea of crowd’ on streets was a testimony of public’s growing disenchantment with it.

He said that many army veterans wanted state govt to provide a compensation of Rs 5 crore to Lance Naik Prabhu’s family, a govt job to deceased’s and also public apology from Chief Minister MK Stalin.

Further lashing out at the DMK govt, he said that the state administration initially tried to gloss over the matter but  acted & arrested the accused only after BJP mounted pressure.

Lance Naik Prabhu, hailing from Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri was posted in Srinagar under Jammu & Kashmir military police. He had come back home on leave, when the incident took place.

The jawan was brutally murdered by a DMK functionary Chinnaswamy & his goons over a heated exchange on February 9. An altercation had broken out between DMK Councillor Chinnaswamy and Prabh & his elder brother Prabhakaran, employed as gunner in Indian Army, over washing clothes at town panchayat’s water tank.
