New Delhi: British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy enjoyed a low-key dinner date last night in New Delhi following the cancellation of the former’s meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Bratain’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who landed in the national capital on Friday afternoon to mark his presence in the 18th round of the G20 summit, had initially planned to hold an official meetup with PM Narendra Modi at his residence in Lok Kalyan Marg on September 8th afternoon. However, the meeting got called off shortly before Sunak landed in India’s National Capital and instead of Sunak, the President of the United States, Joe Biden was hosted at a dinner by PM Modi at his residence.
Additionally, Sunak’s yet another meetup with India’s leading business tycoons, which was scheduled to be held on Friday evening, was also called off owing to the excessive traffic jams in the National capital.
As per the media reports published by several British outlets, Rishi’s scheduled meetup was called off by the British High Commission after it was revealed that the guests would have a hard time reaching the venue due to the tight security arrangements in the city ahead of the G20 Summit.
Rishi Sunak’s dinner date at ‘The Imperial Hotel’
Following the cancellation of his two scheduled official meetings, the British Prime Minister decided to have some private time instead and opted for a luxurious private dinner with his wife Akshata Murthy.
Rishi and Murthy walked arm in arms towards their dinner destination The Imperial Hotel which is approximately 1.5 km away from Shangri-La-Hotel where the couple is currently staying.
In the viral picture of the couple’s dinner date, Sunak is seen donned in an off-white shirt sans blazer while his wife Murthy is seen wearing a white T-shirt that she paired with pink striped trousers. Previously, the couple was also spotted having a word with the students of the British Council of India.
