Caught on Camera: Many buildings collapse in Himachal’s Kullu, triggered by landslide

The collapse of multiple buildings in one-go was apparently trigged by massive landslide, which occurred after long spell of rains in the hilly state.

New Delhi: Several buildings in Kullu districts of Himachal Pradesh caved in like a pack of cards on Thursday morning, creating fresh wave of panic & chaos in the mountainous state. The scale of destruction was not immediately known yet but the visuals of house collapse are very scary & horrifying.

The devastating landslide was caught on camera by those present near the spot. In the frightening video, many buildings could be seen turning into rubbles in just few seconds.

Reports suggest that there hasn’t been any loss of life as these houses were evacuated by the state administration, few days ago. These buildings were said to be prone to damages & risks in wake of intense rains & subsequent landslides.

The horrifying incident took place in market place of Anni, a town in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh.

Himachal chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also took note of the horrifying incident and informed that the administration had identified some creaking buildings some days and also got them evacuated.


Notably, the hilly state has been under constant spell of heavy rains and witnessed many incidents of cloudbursts and landslides in last few days. Battered by heavy rains, the rivers of state have swelled to dangerous levels and visuals showed a couple of buildings on the banks getting engulfed in its gushing flow. The inclement weather has caused heavy losses to state’s exchequer and will take months to rebuild.

Shimla’s popular Toy train also halted its operations and its services remain suspended for a month now, as rail tracks got damaged due to landslides.
