Cong leader Shivakumar seen showering Rs 500 currency notes in poll-bound Karnataka (VIDEO)

D Shivakumar, a party heavyweight & also potential Chief Ministerial face has amped his campaign especially in Mandya district, a stronghold of Vokkaliga community.

New Delhi: While Karnataka preps up for upcoming Assembly elections, Congress leader D Shivakumar was seen on camera showering currency notes at the crowd during a roadshow, giving rival parties fresh ammunition to escalate attack on the already cornered party in poll-bound state.

D Shivakumar, the Karnataka Congress chief was spotted hurling ‘bundle of notes’ during a roadshow in Bevinahalli of Mandya district. The roadshow, organized under party’s “Praja Dhwani Yatra”, is aimed at wooing the electorate & winning back their confidence.

D Shivakumar, a party heavyweight & also potential Chief Ministerial face has amped his campaign especially in Mandya district, a stronghold of Vokkaliga community.

Shivakumar, himself being a Vokkaliga, is trying to build strong public connect in Mandya, which in turn could replicate into votes. Currently, the seat is dominated by JD(S) party.


Congress party recently release its first list of candidates for the impending Assembly elections. The first Congress list had names of 124 candidates. Rest 100 candidate names will also be released soon, sources said.

Former Cong CM Siddaramaiah & D Shivkumar are party’s potential Chief Ministerial candidates for the state polls, though the party hasn’t made any official announcement, over who would keep the reigns of party’s campaign in state.

CM slams Shivakumar for ‘blatant abuse of power’

Taking cognizance of the Congress leader’s obscene display of money power, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai hit out at D Shivakumar and said the grand old party treats people as ‘beggars’ and they will be duly rewarded for this in the polls.
