Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary passes away due to heart attack during Bharat Jodo Yatra

He was rushed to a hospital in an ambulance in Ludhiana, where he was declared dead by the doctors.

New Delhi: Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary passed away due to a heart attack during the Bharat Jodo Yatra on January 14 morning. He was rushed to a hospital in an ambulance in Ludhiana, where he was declared dead by the doctors. As Santokh Singh’s condition deteriorated, Rahul Gandhi stopped the Bharat Jodo Yatra and immediately reached the hospital.

He collapsed while walking during the Yatra. He was taken to Virk Hospital in Phagwara, where he passed away. 

Rahul Gandhi began his Bharat Jodo Yatra in Ludhiana at 7 am this morning while it was set to reach Goraya in Jalandhar at 10 am where they will stop for lunch. After that, the journey would start again at 3 pm and stop near Phagwara bus station at 6 pm. Today, the Yatra’s night halt was at Mehat village near Konika Resort in Kapurthala, but after Congress MP Santokh Singh Choudhary passed away, the Yatra was stopped for the day.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Captain Amrinder Singh and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge also shared their condolences for the Congress MP.

Meanwhile, Bharat Jodo Yatra began on 7 September 2022 from Kanyakumari and will go on till January 30 in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar.
