Coronavirus: As hotspots see surge in numbers, a call from states to extend lockdown

According to reports, experts from the medical fraternity as well as a couple of state government have requested for extension of lockdown by few more days, sources said.

New Delhi: The nation stands united against the menace of Covid-19, with the entire country strictly following the 21-day lockdown to contain the spread of Coronavirus.

However, the number of Corona+ cases are on constant rise. Many Corona hotspots have emerged across the country with metro cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Noida becoming hotspot zones. The death toll has already crossed 100 mark.

According to reports, experts from the medical fraternity as well as a couple of state government have requested for extension of lockdown by few more days, sources said.

Telangana CM said

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday appealed to PM Modi to extend the 21-day national lockdown to check coronavirus beyond April 14, saying it was essential to save the lives of people. The TRS supremo said it would be difficult to contain the spread of the virus in view of the country’s “poor health infrastructure”.

Venkaiah Naidu said

People must abide by any decision on the coronavirus lockdown “even if the hardship continues beyond April 14”, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu said today, amid calls for extending the restrictions from states like Telangana, Uttar Pradesh and Assam.

Vice-President, when asked about his opinion on the lockdown, said that it’s better to take some more pain for a better tomorrow..

Surge in hotspots raises alarm

‘Social distancing’ is the only advised antidote to this world-wide pandemic. Taking a firm and bold decision, India put in place 21-day lockdown much in advance and that’s probably the reason behind it’s contained spread.
