Delay in development projects, negligence, not acceptable; Govt officers will be held accountable: CM Yogi

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that any kind of negligence on part of concerned officials regarding projects will not be tolerated.

New Delhi: Expressing strong displeasure over the delay in development projects for public welfare, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said that any kind of negligence on part of concerned officials regarding projects will not be tolerated.

“In case of the unnecessary delay or negligence in completion of development projects or reports of corruption, the concerned government officials including the Additional Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary, and Secretary level officers among others would be held accountable,” said the CM while reviewing the updated status of various development projects.

CM Yogi has also asked the Chief Secretary for a detailed report on the important development projects being carried out in all the 18 divisions. In addition to this, he also directed the Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, to prepare a detailed report on project-wise budget issued to the departments in the last five months, along with the details of the expenditure so far and the remaining amount.

Next week, the Chief Minister will review project wise progress of works once again.

Reviewing the district wise progress of development works, Yogi Adityanath said that any kind of delay in development projects not only leads to wastage of public money, but also affects public welfare at large. Therefore, special attention should be paid to ensure timely completion of the development projects of public welfare in the state, he added.

Stressing on the allocation of funds as per the rules fixed for the project, the CM also said that procrastination should be avoided to complete the projects within stipulated time.

“There is no paucity of funds for development works. In this regard, the Finance Department and the Chief Minister’s Office can be contacted as per the requirement”, CM Yogi remarked.

Emphasising on ensuring cleanliness, transparency and quality of development projects, the Chief Minister expressed the need to encourage healthy competition in the selection of executive bodies.

He suggested that central agencies should also be roped in case of important projects, directing the Chjief Secretary to make efforts in this regard.

Furthermore, the CM stressed on maintaining transparency and fairness, and said that the authorities must ensure that the organisation preparing the DPR for the development projects does not participate in the tender process for the formulation/implementation of the project.

New Universities will transform UP’s educational scenario

Regarding the ongoing construction works of new state universities, the Chief Minister said that a number of universities are being established by the government to provide easy access to quality higher education for the youth.

Projects including Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University, Aligarh, Mahayogi Guru Gorakhnath Ayush University, Gorakhpur, Maa Shakumbhari Devi State University, Saharanpur, Maharaja Suheldev State University, Azamgarh will bring about a reform in the educational scenario of Uttar Pradesh.

The government is continuously monitoring the construction work of these universities on high priority, the CM said.

On the issue of revision of budget revision in certain projects, the Chief Minister categorically rejected it. “The budget of any project would not be revised. “Before the start of any project, we have to take the final decision on all the points.”

The CM also issued instructions to complete the Solid Waste Management Project in Loni Municipality in Ghaziabad district by September 15.

Paying attention to the hindrance in the project of four lane overcoming bridge to cross State Route 57 (Delhi-Saharanpur State Road) on the proposed 60-metre master plan road at Mandaula Vihar in Ghaziabad district, the Chief Minister asked the Chief Secretary to hold a meeting with the Bridge Corporation for a permanent solution.
