Delhi Police busted gang associated with robbing mobile phones and laptops; 3 prime accused arrested

New Delhi: Delhi Police have busted a notorious gang who was involved in robbing mobile phones and laptops in the area of Delhi and NCR. The team of Inter-State Cell (ISC) of the Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested three associated with the crime. According to the officials, three accused have been arrested.

The accused have been identified as Salim Hussain (44), Anil Kumar (46), and Saravanan Gopal (31). Along with their arrest, police have recovered 36 stolen android mobile phones and 5 laptops from their possession. Besides, the vehicle that was used to commission the offense has also been recovered.

Earlier, another accused namely Kuldeep Singha was arrested by the police who revealed that he used to receive stolen mobile phones from Anil. Thereafter, the police started focussing on the arrest of Anil. According to ISC, Anil used to visit in the area of Govindpuri, Karol Bagh, and other areas of South and southeast Delhi.

During the process of investigation, the crime branch received CCTV footage of suspects, which helped them to bust the crime. “Team has collected all criminal records and information against accused Anil Kumar. Team has conducted raids at his all possible hideouts, interrogated his relatives and friends, deployed informers, collected criminal intelligence and laid trap in area of Malviya Nagar & Karol Bagh, Delhi,” stated the Delhi Police.

Notably, on April 6, the team arrested Anil along with his two associates – Salim and Saravanan. During interrogation, Anil stated that he “the contact of accused Kuldeep in year 2015 and used to sale him the stolen mobile phones.  After the arrest of Kuldeep, he started to give stolen mobile phones to Kishan.”

Anil also revealed that Salim was his classmate, who prior to Covid was working as a make-up artist in movies, TV advertisements, and serials. Salim further came in contact with Saravanan.

Reportedly, Anil had given more than 400 mobile phones to Kuldeep and he earned around Rs 500 to 700 per mobile phone.
