Delhi Police files chargesheet against WFI chief Brij Bhushan

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur in his June 7 meet with the ace wrestlers had assured them that charges will be framed and case filed by June 15. In return for the assurances, the wrestlers had agreed to suspend their stir.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Thursday reached the city’s Rouse Avenue district court and is set file chargesheet against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief & Parliamentarian Brij Bhushan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment & molestation by top wrestlers of the country.

Delhi Police is likely file 1000-page chargesheet in the harassment case against the BJP MP.

In a statement, Delhi police said, “chargesheet are for offences under sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (making sexually coloured remarks), 354D (stalking) of IPC against accused Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh and for offences under sections 109/ 354/354A/506 IPC against accused former WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar.”

Sports Minister’s June 15 deadline

The filing of chargesheet comes on a day when the deadline for chargesheet was expiring. Notably, the Sports Minister Anurag Thakur in his June 7 meet with the ace wrestlers had assured them that charges will be framed and case filed by June 15. In return for the assurances, the wrestlers had agreed to suspend their stir.

The Delhi Police has taken statement of more than 150 people in the case.
