SpiceJet vs Cock brand before Diwali: Fireworks firm’s caustic reply to former’s banner

“Do you know Co2 emission caused by air travel is 285gms per passenger km? Shall we place such banner infront of your offices?”.

New Delhi: Airlines company SpiceJet hold forth for a ‘No-cracker Diwali’ in a banner placed at the baggage screening counter of a certain airport. Now, a firework manufacturing company Sri Kaliswari Fireworks Private Limited, manufacturing crackers under the trademark ‘Cock Brand’ have thrashed the airline company for its hypocrisy on environment activism.

Giving SpiceJet a taste of its own medicine, the company shared an amusing post on Facebook asking whether the airlines have pollution free or if their planes run or white or green petrol.

Sharing a picture of SpiceJet’s banner, the firework company wrote, ” Do you have pollution free planes? Do you use white-petrol or green-petrol for your planes? How dare you talk about our fireworks industry? Why cannot you stop your business, thrash your planes to garbage and them come and advice to people?”.

“Do you know Co2 emission caused by air travel is 285gms per passenger km, compared to that of rail travel is just 14 gms ? Shall we place such banner infront of your offices ? Don’t spoil other industries for your promotion”, the post added.

In 2018, Supreme court had banned the manufacturing of polluting fire-crackers allowing only green crackers with reduced emission to be sold in the country.

Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Saturday launched eco-friendly ‘green firecrackers’, which are manufactured in India. Addressing an event by Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) where the crackers have been prepared, Dr Vardhan said, “I am very happy that on one hand, we would be using eco-friendly crackers this Diwali, and, on the other hand, our traditional festival celebrations with lights and firecrackers shall remain intact. Millions of homes which are dependent on the sale and manufacture of fireworks will also rejoice this festival, thanks to our scientists!”.
