Anil Arya had borrowed Rs 1.5 lakh from the elderly woman named Kavita, who was his neighbour in outer Delhi’s Najafgarh area. When the 75-year-old lady asked to return the money, Arya along with his wife, Tanu, allegedly killed her on the night of June 30. They punched and strangled the elderly woman.

However, the man’s wife has said that she didn’t kill the woman. She accused her husband of committing the crime and also assaulting her.

Chilling details of cold-blooded murder

The incident happened when the woman was alone at home. The couple killed the elderly woman after she demanded them to return the loaned money.

Anil and Tanu cut the body into several pieces with a knife used to cut vegetables so that the body of the old woman could not be identified. They spent the rest of the night cleaning the blood.

The two packed the bodies into three handbags, put them in the car and threw them into the canal near Najafgarh. They were caught on camera while they were loading these handbags in the car and apparently this left enough hints to police to enquire into their nefarious crime.

Police narrate the modus operandi

On June 30, the couple went to the house of the victim to stay with her.  In the night the argument over the money again cropped up.  Anil Arya gave a heavy punch blow to the victim due to which she fell unconscious. Then the accused strangulated her with the help of a nylon rope.  After that, they cut the body into pieces with the kitchen knives available in the home and stuffed the same in two bags along with the rope, sleepers and clothes of the victim.
