UP cops lodge FIR over alleged misappropriation of land by Kamala Nehru Trust, Congress leader booked

UP police have lodged an FIR against a Congress leader and a dozen others for alleged misappropriation of land in Rae Bareli by the Gandhi family-run society. A probe was ordered by CM Yogi earlier, on complaints of Cong rebel Aditi Singh.

New Delhi: Kamala Nehru Trust, a Rae Bareli based society linked with Gandhis has been under scanner for sometime for alleged fraud and irregularities in its functioning. Now, the UP police have lodged an FIR against a Congress leader and a dozen others for alleged misappropriation of land in Rae Bareli by the family-run society.

The FIR has been registered against Vikram Kaul, son of former Rae Bareli MP Sheela Kaul and Kamala Nehru Trust’s secretary Sunil Dev and member Sunil Tiwari. The police complaint was lodged on the orders of District Magistrate. Few government officers are also under scrutiny who apparently facilitated this ‘illegal land transfer’.

According to FIR, all of them acted in connivance to convert the nazul land into free-hold property and was subsequently ‘transferred’ to the Gandhi-family trust. A Nazul land is basically a land that has no claimants and it is considered to be belonging to government.

Accused have been booked under several sections including 417, 420, 468, 471 and 474 sections of IPC. Police complaint has set the government departments into a tizzy.
