New Delhi: In this day and age, it’s very prevailing to hear the chronicles of how drug dealers and gold smugglers throughout society adopt distinctive ways to illegally pirate commodities. One incident has come to light at Delhi’s IGI Airport where a Dubai-bound Indian commuter was caught by CISF personnel for purportedly smuggling Saudi Riyals worth Rs 41 lakh by concealing them in ‘Ghagra’ buttons.
The passenger, recognized as Misam Raza was obstructed by the security individual at Terminal-3 of the IGI Airport on Tuesday during security checks at about 4 am. On duty individual noticed some doubtful portrayal of the buttons kept in the commuter’s sack on the X-ray scanner monitor and decided to investigate further. A hoard of 1,85,500 Saudi Riyals worth at Rs 41 lakh was kept smartly folded in squares inside buttons used in ‘Ghagra’.
CISF shared the video and wrote, “Vigilant #CISF personnel apprehended a passenger carrying foreign currency (worth approx. Rs 41lakh) concealed in “Lehenga Buttons” kept inside his bag @ IGI Airport, New Delhi. The Passenger was handed over to customs.”

The commuter was flying to Dubai from Delhi on a Spicejet flight. He was offloaded from the flight and handed into the custom authorities for further investigation along with recovered currency because he failed to show any official document, a senior officer said.
