New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the mindset of free India should be ‘vocal for local’ to achieve the goal of ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ (self-reliant India).

He also stated that country’s progress is seen in all fields in past six years and added that “be it providing every household with electricity, cooking gas, creating bank accounts for the poor or building toilets in all houses, India has progressed a lot in every field in the last six years.”

Amid border tensions with China, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that Indian soldiers gave a befitting reply to those who tried to pose a challenge to the country’s sovereignty, from the Line of Actual Control (LAC) to Line of Control (LoC).

“From LoC to LAC, whoever tried to raise their eyes towards the sovereignty of our country, our soldiers responded to it in the same manner,” the Prime Minister said during his Independence Day speech from the ramparts of the Red Fort. He made a reference to the clash between Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley in June this year.

5.Committee set up to reconsider minimum age of marriage for women

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that a committee has been set up to reconsider minimum age of marriage for women and appropriate action will be taken after a report is submitted.

“We have set up a committee to reconsider the minimum age for marriage of our daughters. We will take appropriate decision after the committee submits its report,” he said while addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. The Prime Minister also said that the country is determined to provide equal opportunities for self-employment and employment to women.

6.Over Rs 100 lakh crore to be spent under National Infrastructure Pipeline Project, 7,000 projects identified

The Prime Minister said that India will spend more than Rs 100 lakh crore on the National Infrastructure Pipeline Project. “There is a need to give a new direction to the overall infrastructural development of the country to move India towards modernity at a fast pace. This need will be met through the National Infrastructure Pipeline Project,” he said.

He said 7,000 projects have been identified under National Infrastructure Pipeline Project.

7.Delimitation process underway in J-K, polls to be conducted soon

“Delimitation process is underway in Jammu and Kashmir. Once it is completed, an election will be held in the Union Territory. Jammu and Kashmir will have its own chief minister and ministers. We are committed to this,” he said while delivering his seventh consecutive Independence Day speech from the iconic Red Fort. “This one year is a year of the new journey of development for Jammu and Kashmir. This one year is the year of the rights received by the women and the Dalits in Jammu and Kashmir. This one year is also the year of a life of dignity for the refugees in Jammu and Kashmir,” the Prime Minister said.

8.’Vocal for local should become mantra for every Indian’

“The mindset of free India should be ‘vocal for local’. We should appreciate our local products, if we don’t do this then our products will not get the opportunity to do better and will not get encouraged,” he said while delivering his seventh consecutive Independence Day speech from the iconic Red Fort. “Today, many big companies are turning towards India. We have to move forward with the mantra of Make for the world along with Make in India,” the PM added.

9.Atmanirbhar Bharat has become mantra for 130 crore Indians

Prime Minister said the dream of self-reliance is turning into a pledge. “Amid COVID-19 pandemic 130 crore Indians took the resolve to be self-reliant and Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) is on the mind of people. This dream is turning into a pledge. Atmanirbhar Bharat has become a ‘mantra’ for the 130 crore Indians today. I am confident that India will realise this dream. I am confident of the abilities, confidence, and potential of my fellow Indians. Once we decide to do something, we do not rest until we achieve that goal,” he said.

PM Modi hailed people in the frontline of the battle against coronavirus, saying “corona warriors have lived the mantra of ‘Seva Parmo Dharma’ and served the people of the country.

PM Modi  exuded confidence that opening up of the space sector in the country will create employment opportunities.

“I am confident that measures like opening up the space sector, will generate many new employment opportunities for our youth and provide further avenues to hone their skills and potential,” he said while addressing the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort. “India has always believed that the entire world is one family. While we focus on economic growth and development, humanity must retain a central role in this process and our journey” the Prime Minister added.
