New Delhi: The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic wreaked havoc across the length and breath of the country for almost 2 months, killing hordes of people, leaving children orphaned while devastating lakhs of livelihoods. Centre and States worked round the clock but the calamity was gigantic enough to belittle government’s all efforts.

However, Gujarat mode of tackling pandemic has lately been appreciated and praised for its growth-driven and people-centric initiatives. The state too witnessed spike in Covid-19 numbers and loss of lives but the chief minister Vijay Rupani toiled for long hours and reached out to maximum people, especially the unprivileged class. In the dark and depressing period of Covid-19, he not only provided poor a much needed relief package but also stood by them in troubled times.

Gujarat government, under dynamic leadership of Vijay Rupani, ensured a complete waiver of property tax for cinema houses, multiplexes, and gymnasiums. He did it for a period of one year from April 1 this year to March 31, 2022. This helped create a new atmosphere of hope and prosperity in the business psyche of Gujarat.

Under the guidance of PM Modi, Vijay Rupani led Gujarat has accounted for 53% of the total FDI investment received that of the entire country.

This is a phenomenal growth story. Gujarat received highest FDI worth Rs 1.58 lakh crore (USD 21.24 Bn) during Apr – Dec 2020 and during the first six months of 2020-21, it has registered a growth of 550% over previous year. In FY 2019-20, Gujarat saw highest national increment of 240% in FDI inflows from the previous year. Vijay Rupani has been able to achieve this feet only because of his constant observation and interest in the well being of Gujarat and its people.

The recent decision of tax exemption by Vijay Rupani government has given multiple level of relief to business community of state. As per the decision, such cinema houses- multiplexes and gymnasiums will also be exempted from the fixed charge in the electricity bill and will be charged only on the actual electricity consumption.

The decision of Gujarat government found resonance at national level too. A day after Gujarat CM announced waiver on property tax and fixed charge in electricity bill for a year, to give relief to the hotels, resorts, restaurants and water parks in the state, traders started demanding similar waivers in Delhi and Noida. They claimed that they were reeling under COVID-19 curbs since the onset of severe second wave of the pandemic and sought the same relief package as offered by Gujarat CM to state’s business community.

Gujarat’s e-Nirman portal, Uwin card initiatives lauded by SC

The Supreme Court praised the recently launched Gujarat govt’s digial initiatives like e-nirman portal for the registration of construction workers and U-Win cards for the unorganized-sector workers.

Gujarat is the first state to take the initiative to register unorganized sector workers online. So far 6 lakh workers have been registered.

The e-nirman portal was launched on June 8. With new portal for the poor, Gujarat has become the first state in the country to launch such a digital platform to register unorganized-sector workers through a common service centre.
