New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Wednesday arrested Kalyani Singh in connection with the 2015 murder of former national-level shooter and advocate Sukhmanpreet Singh alias Sippy Sidhu.

Kalyani Singh, is the daughter of the Acting Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh High Court, Sabina Singh.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said that Kalyani Singh and Sukhmanpreet Singh (alias Sippy Sidhu) were in a close relationship, and she wanted to marry him but her proposal was rejected by Sippy Sidhu’s parents.

The CBI further said that Sippy Sidhu had leaked some of her photographs to her family and friends, which embarrassed her parents and her.

Sippy Sidhu's murder case

At present, Kalyani Singh ‘s mother Justice Sabina, is the Acting Chief Justice of the Himachal Pradesh High Court.

In the past, Justice Sabina was posted at the Punjab and Haryana High Court in Chandigarh.

After Sidhu’s murder, Kalyani Singh was under the scanner after the agency found out that during the probe “a woman was accompanying the murderer”.

On Wednesday (June 15), the CBI had sought 10 days’ remand but was given only four days by the court. The CBI further said that they wantedto interrogate her to find the other persons likely involved, and to find the weapon and vehicles used in the crime.

Before leaving his home on the fateful day, 34-year-old lawyer had reportedly told his mother that he was going to meet his female friend.

Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu Murder:
Sukhmanpreet Singh Sidhu, who was also known as Sippy Sidhu, was shot dead on September 20, 2015 in Chandigarh’s Sector 27.
During the investigation it was found that A .12-bore gun was used to kill him.
