New Delhi: In a setback for Himachal Congress, veteran leader & former Member of Parliament (MP) Suresh Chandel announced his resignation from the party. Chandel said that he was upset with factionalism & decision-making within the state unit and hence quitting the party.

He has sent his resignation to Congress president and also Himachal PCC president Pratibha Singh.

Chandel is set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in presence of party president JP Nadda. The development comes at a time when the state is headed for Assembly elections towards end of the year.

This will mark the ‘homecoming’ of Suresh Chanel as he was with the BJP days before 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He had joined Congress on April 22, 2019.

The former lawmaker maintains that though he joined Congress but his heart & mind remain devoted to principles of the saffron party.
