How Gujarat is taking giant strides of development under the leadership of CM Vijay Rupani

New Delhi: Gujarat’s growth trajectory is on a constant uptrend, ever since Vijay Rupani took over as the Chief Minister of the state. Despite calamities like Covid-19 hitting the state and country hard, the growth parameters are favourably placed. Under the exemplary leadership of Vijay Rupani, all cross-sections of society have benefited from people-friendly schemes. Even during Corona crisis, the state government walked extra mile to reach out to healthcare workers, farmers and even those working in non-organized sectors.

Farmers get enhanced MSP, crop insurance, other benefits

Farmers have benefitted the most in Rupani’s tenure as chief minister. Rupani led government paid Rs17,000 crore as support price to farmers in the last 3 years which gave them much needed relief and a platform to reenergize farm activities. Gujarat Government has taken a series of steps to uplift the economic status of state’s farmers. It has brought in a new system for crop insurance, giving loans to farmers at zero per cent interest.

At 3.4%, Gujarat has lowest unemployment rate

Rupani led government has been successful in creating jobs and employment at a mass scale. As many as 1.6 lakh people have got government jobs in Gujarat and this is a matter of record. Lakhs of people were extended financial assistance under state govt schemes to set up businesses. The data are self explanatory. In Gujarat, unemployment rate is 3.4 per cent, one of the lowest in the country.

On development front, Vijay Rupani has many feathers in his cap. Recently Gujarat government, have launched developmental works to the tune of Rs 27,000 crore, which includes the 30,000 MW hybrid renewable energy project in Kutch, the world’s largest such initiative.

Vijay Rupani led government has created a new milestone in achieveing the targets of Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission. He has chosen the path of MSME development which is the backbone of economy. Rupani govt launched the Gujarat Industrial Policy 2020 that has several provisions for supporting MSMEs. The key focus of the policy is towards inclusive & balanced regional development and employment generation.

During covid pandemic, the government has surpassed the national expectation in terms of helping the needy and creating the medical infrastructure very fast. Government supplied the poor with free grains for months, arranged special buses and trains for more than 25 lakh people to return home, set up more hospitals, given Tocilizumab injections free of cost to needy persons.

Gujarat Government also announced to pay interns and resident doctors on coronavirus duty Rs. 5,000 per month Covid Incentive Allowance, in addition to their stipend for their noble service to the corona patients during the prevailing pandemic situation.

Covid-19 recovery rate in Gujarat has reached 97 per cent and the mortality rate has come down to 1.7 per cent. As a result, Gujarat government efforts have been appreciated by the Supreme Court, IIM Ahmedabad, NITI Aayog and the AIIMS. Vijay Rupani has a very humble background since beginning. He is still very easy to approach despite donning the hat of chief ministership for second consecutive term. This is the key to his phenomenal success as chief minister.
