In Bharat Jodo Yatra, Cong leader Krishna Kumar Pandey dies during march

New Delhi: In an unfortunate news from Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra, a Congress leader on Tuesday collapsed and died while being part of the 3,500 long march. He has been identified as Krishna Kumar Pandey, the general secretary of the Seva Dal.

Taking to Twitter, Congress national spokesperson Jairam Ramesh informed that the incident happened while the partymen were on foot march and it has left everyone grieving about sudden loss of a party stalwart.

Jairam informed that Pandey was walking along with Digvijaya Singh & himself. It was after he handed over national flag to a party colleague, he fainted.

Krishna Kumar collapsed and couldn’t be revived despite being taken to hospital.

In a statement, the party said Pandey collapsed during the march and was taken in an ambulance to hospital where he was declared dead.

Jairam Ramesh said that Seva Dal leader Krishna Kumar was a staunch Congressman, who used to take on the RSS in Nagpur.

“It is a most humbling moment for all the Yatris,” he said.

Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra

Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, criss-crossing through the length & breadth of country, reached Maharashtra last night. As part of the journey, the Congress leader will cover 3,500 km distance and will cross through 12 states. In Maharasthra, he will travel through 15 Assembly constituencies in 5 districts and also address public gatherings.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi also visited a gurdwara in Nanded district. The party will enter next state Madhya Pradesh on November 20.

The Yatra started from Kanyakumari and will culminate in Jammu and Kashmir, spanning distance of nearly 3,500 km in about 150 days.

Rahul Gandhi-led Congress kicked off this yatra on September 7 claiming that it was time for people to stand up & oppose BJP’s politics of hate & division.
