In Gujarat, over 11 lakh healthcare & frontline workers to be vaccinated in 1st phase

COVID-19 vaccination will begin in Gujarat from 16th January. State govt has compiled data for vaccination. More than 11 lakh COVID-19 warriors, which includes more than 4 lakh health workers and more than 6 lakh frontline workers will be vaccinated in the first phase.

New Delhi: Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani has stated that as India is preparing for the world’s largest COVID-19 vaccination drive from January 16, 2021, Gujarat government has also made necessary arrangements for the same.

Addressing the people of Gujarat digitally, the CM said, “State-wide COVID-19 vaccination will begin from 16th January, 2021. The state government has already compiled data for vaccination. More than 11 lakh COVID-19 warriors, which includes more than 4 lakh health workers and more than 6 lakh frontline workers (police, sanitation workers etc.), will be vaccinated in the first phase.”

It is a pride moment for the entire nation that the COVID-19 vaccines are made in India thereby fulfilling the mission of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. This is a testament of the dedication of our scientists and their hard work.

The CM also added that the work for ‘House to House’ survey has been successfully completed in Gujarat. A database of more than 1 crore 5 lakh citizens, aged 50 and above, has been prepared under the same. Another 2 lakh 75,000 people under 50, who are suffering from ailments have also been identified by the state government.

More than 16,000 health workers have been successfully trained as Vaccinators. The state government has made necessary arrangements for cold-chain transportation of the vaccine. 6 Regional Depots have been established. Government of India has also supplied necessary tools and equipments to the state government.

Successful trial runs at 6 places in the state have been completed in rural and urban areas. Vaccine centers have been equipped with a ‘Vaccine Room’ and a ‘Waiting Room’. People will be placed under observation for a while, post-vaccination.

CM Rupani urged 6.5 crore Gujaratis to stay away from rumors in such critical times and insisted that people follow and implement guidelines issued by the government from time to time.

He also added that each and every citizen will be vaccinated but insisted that people must be patient and trust the government.
