New Delhi: Indian Student Naveen was shot dead at around 10.30 am Ukrainian time today. The incident took place while he was standing in the queue before a grocery shop when the Russian army fired at people.
Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi shared the tragic news on Twitter. “With profound sorrow, we confirm that an Indian student lost his life in shelling in Kharkiv this morning. The Ministry is in touch with his family. We convey our deepest condolences to the family,” he Tweeted.
After the official confirmation was made by the Indian government about the tragic news, a video of him talking to his parents, two days ago had gone viral on social media.
In the video, Naveen can be seen talking to his family members via video call in Kannada language.

Naveen Shekharappa hailed from from Chalageri, Haveri in Karnataka. He was 4th year MBBS student and was only 21-years old.
Meanwhile, PM Modi said that the entire government machinery is working round the clock to ensure that all Indians there are safe and secure, informed Bagchi on Monday. This was the second high-level meeting chaired by the Prime Minister during the day over the prevailing situation in Ukraine.
