Jammu and Kashmir: BJP leader Som Raj’s body found hanging from a tree in Kathua

The family have alleged that Raj was murdered and has demanded that the government provide justice to them.

New Delhi: Missing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Som Raj’s was found hanging from a tree in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Tuesday, said Officials.

A special investigation team (SIT) has been constituted to probe into the death of the BJP leader.

The body was found hanging from a tree in Hiranagar town in the morning by a villagers who informed the police.

Police said that body had blood stains.

According to the reports, the BJP leader was missing for the past three days but a complaint was not registered by the police.

Senior superintendent of police (SSP), Kathua, RC Kotwal told reporters that an investigation has started under Section 174 (police to enquire and report on suicide) of the Code of Criminal Procedure.

Post-mortem exam of the body has been conducted and results are awaited.

Taking to Twitter,  Union minister Jitendra Singh condoled the death.

The family members have named a person in connection with the incident will be questioned, said the SSP.

After the post-mortem the body was handed over to his family and it was cremated, said the police.
