Javed Akhtar’s appeal to Michelle Obama triggers meme fest among netizens

Akhtar made the comment while replying to a tweet she had made to promote her new book, The Light We Carry

New Delhi: Lyricist Javed Akhtar, who often makes headlines over his controversial remarks, has this time created a buzz amongst netizens after making an appeal to former First Lady of the United States Michelle Obama to run for the President.

“Dear Ms Michelle Obama, I am not some young crazy fan but a 77 years old writer/ poet from India. Hopefully any Indian would know my name. Madame please take my words seriously, not only US but the world needs you in White House. You shouldn’t shrug off this responsibility”, he wrote to Michelle on Friday.

Akhtar made the comment while replying to a tweet she had made to promote her new book, The Light We Carry. As per the description provided on the book, it contains stories and insightful observations.

Obama took to her Twitter handle and wrote, “I’m so excited to go on ‘The Light We Carry’ Tour with these wonderful people!”

“I’ll be sharing some personal stories and lessons that have helped me along my path, and I can’t wait to tell you more. I hope you’ll join us,” she added.

As the Indian side of  Twitter noticed Akhtar’s plead to Obama, it erupts in a hilarious meme fest, with netizens teasing the latter about his political views on a humorous note.
