The ED team is carrying out multiple search operation in Ranchi, as parts of its money laundering probe into alleged illegal mining to the state.

New Delhi: In a major development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sleuths on Wednesday recovered 2 AK-47 assault rifles reportedly from the residence of Prem Prakash, said to be an aide of Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

AK-47 rifles were reportedly hidden inside an almirah. Following the incident, the BJP hit out at Soren government and also demanded probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), owing to serious offence.

The ED team is carrying out multiple search operation in Ranchi, as parts of its money laundering probe into alleged illegal mining to the state.

Notably, several locations in both Bihar and Jharkhand are facing CBI raids since morning.

This is not Prem Prakash’s first brush with the rule of law. His officers & other locations have also been raided in the past too.

The investigative agency is also probing the money trail of Rs 100 crore, raised from illegal mining operations and were transferred as ‘proceeds of crime’

The ED began its probe with raid on Mishra on July 8 and then has been conducting searches to catch the ‘big fish’.

Questions over AK-47 recovery from home

As it’s a crime to keep AK-47 rifles in personal custody or at home, the recovery of the sophisticated weapon from Soren’s aides raises big question on state’s security.

After this, the Opposition is set to scale up attack on Hemant Soren govt and demand answers for grave offence.
